Bellwether has expertise in all areas of Colorado home construction and exterior remodels, including siding replacement, window replacement, insulation, gutters, paint, and exterior design.Â
Bellwether believes in creating beautiful homes. Our siding experts and in-house design team will craft a home exterior that you love, making your house the place you feel most at-home. Our high standards and commitment to best practices will ensure that, whatever your style-choice, your home will be comfortable, dry, and protected, so you can focus on designing a space that looks and feels like the beautiful home of your dreams.
Siding, or wall cladding, is the protective material attached to the exterior walls of a house or other building. Siding materials drive your home’s appearance and style, but siding is also a necessary, functional element of your home’s construction and efficiency. Home siding is a reliable and economical way to beautify and protect your home, with plenty of options to satisfy different tastes and budgets.
Along with the roof, siding forms the first line of defense against the elements. Most importantly, Bellwether siding shields your home from sun, rain, snow, heat, and cold, while also protecting against moisture, mildew and mold, and unwanted pests, creating a stable and more comfortable environment on the inside.
There are many siding options to consider. Unlike other exterior options, siding is usually low-maintenance, easy to clean, and available in a broad variety of colors, textures, and styles to achieve a stunning and still functional appearance. Our Bellwether experts highly recommend fiber cement siding as the best choice for Colorado homes because it resists fire and other environmental elements without sacrificing a beautiful finish.
When it comes to siding profiles, there are many different options to consider. These various joinery techniques are all secure against environmental elements, and so the method you choose is most dependent on taste and design goals.Â
Currently, a popular vertical siding profile is board and batten, where the butt joints of each panel are covered with a thin strip, usually 1-2 inches wide. Another popular siding profile is the clapboard method, called lap siding, in which planks are laid horizontally across the wall, starting from the bottom and building up, the board below overlapped by the board above. Lap siding can also include cottage or Dutch lap and nickel gap, more commonly known as ship lap. The shingle/shake—shakes are split and shingles are sawn smooth—method cuts and tapers wood, vinyl or fiber cement shingles in an overlapping pattern. For a shadowing effect, consider a v-groove siding system, and for a more rustic style, consider a channel rustic siding option. Choosing a certain joinery technique or a specific siding profile is a matter of aesthetic taste, and each method offers its own functional benefits. When properly installed by our Bellwether siding installation team, all techniques are designed to protect your home from Colorado’s harsh elements.
Our siding plans always include a full moisture-management system. Bellwether-installed siding creates a barrier between the living spaces of your home and the outside environment, to keep your home comfortable and dry. A professional moisture management system includes flashing, moisture barriers, drainage holes, and careful caulking to seal against rainwater and other elements.
Rest easy that your home will be protected against the Colorado climate with a home siding project plan, and let our in-house design team help you pick the siding profile that creates the beautiful home of your dreams.

Siding, or wall cladding, is the protective material attached to the exterior walls of a house or other building. A siding profile is the design and technique used to install your siding.
There are many home siding options to consider, depending on your tastes: board and batten siding, lap siding, shingle or shake siding, v-groove siding, and channel rustic siding.
When properly installed by our Bellwether siding installation team, any siding profile will protect your home from Colorado’s harsh elements. These designs can be achieved with any siding material, though Bellwether always recommends a fiber cement siding product, such as James Hardie fiber cement siding. All siding profiles include our moisture management system so that your home stays energy efficient, warm, and dry.
